We have received several requests to post an update on Loki.
Loki is doing very well. He continues to grow and learn, and is very much a little boy. Climb, jump, run, take things apart...all are part of his daily activities. He loves Power Rangers Mystic Force and Little Einsteins. Sings songs constantly, and is being to read short words, such as his name. He recently told me that he wants to play soccer, and learn the violin. Soccer we can do now, the violin might need to wait a year.
Loki is constantly on the move, and getting him to sit down for "quiet time" can be quite a challenge. I am happy that the weather is warming up, and that we can head to the park, and just let him run around!!!
His next set of scans isn't until June/July. However, he does have an appointment coming up this month. We have not seen anything to cause us concern. As he is in remission, he sees his oncologist about once every 2-3 months for blood work and general monitoring.
With regard to his grow and side effects, we have been very fortunate. His immune system is stronger, and he handles illnesses well. His pelvis is growing, and we haven't noticed any issues with his movement or gait. However, I, being mom, know we need to wait until he truly hits the next growth spurt to know for sure. His cognative development is normal, and he has hit all his milestones at or ahead of schedule.
I am currently looking into procedures to correct the urostomy that was performed after Loki's bladder was removed. However, most procedures require Loki to be just a little older before they can be done. Mostly from the stand point that he will need to drain an internal pouch, as opposed, to the urostomy continually draining, as it does now. He needs to be alittle older before he takes on that kind of responsibility.
